Thats DANGEROUS............Wasnt there some rifle in the early 20s that was similiar to that...that rich Brits used in Africa?

That thing is vicious.

So taking Newton's 3rd law into account, it should impart quite a bit of energy into the projectile, and to the target, based on the energy expended on the shooter...

Actually yes. They are known as 'drillings' (my memory fails me as to why) but basically double barrel rifles. Generally started with the .500 Nitro Express and went up from there.

And like this one, VERY PUNISHING for the shooter. But it could drop an elephant in it's tracks (but NOT stop it's forward motion if it was on the move, which could be an issue, depending on how close you were).

If you want to read a little more about them pick up a book called 'Unintended Consqences', where the hero purchases and then hunts with them IN Africa.
